One killed in Fayetteville shooting

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police are investigating after one man was killed as a result of a Sunday afternoon shooting.

Fayetteville police said officers responded to a reported shooting near Strickland Bridge Road and Carloway Drive at about 4:10 p.m.

Authorities said that people inside two separate vehicles were involved in a dispute that resulted in a shooting as they drive along Raeford Road near Festival Drive. The people continued to fire shots as they drove along Raeford Road, turned onto Strickland Bridge Road and into the area of Applecross Avenue, police said.

Investigators said one of the vehicles involved, a white Nissan SUV, stopped at a residence in the 1100 block of Strickland Bridge Road, where man was found with a gunshot wound to his back. The man, who was not identified, was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he later died.
