GOLDSBORO, N.C. — One person was killed Saturday and another arrested following a shooting in Goldsboro.

Officers with the Goldsboro police were dispatched to a shooting call at Ash Street Service Center at 3503 East Ash Street Saturday afternoon and found Hubaner Roberto Morales-Morales, 22, with a gunshot wound. Morales-Morales was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators determined that a physical altercation had broken out between Morales-Morales and another man, who was identified as Valentin Morales-Morales, 32, of 100 Spring Drive in Dudley. The altercation was broken up by bystanders and Valentin Morales-Morales walked away, but returned at some point and shot the victim, authorities said.

Valentin Morales-Morales fled the scene in his personal vehicle and was later located at a convenience store in Wayne County. He was arrested at about 6:20 p.m. and taken to the Wayne County Magistrates Office, where he was served with an outstanding warrant for an open count of murder.

He was being held at the Wayne County Jail without bond. He is scheduled to appear in court Monday.
