LILLINGTON, N.C. — A fire early Monday at a Lillington house left one person dead, authorities said.

A neighbor called 911 shortly after 4 a.m. to report the house at 209 Carnation Lane was ablaze.

Authorities said three of the four occupants of the home escaped without injury. Flatwoods Fire Department firefighters found a body inside in what appeared to be a bedroom.

The body was sent to Betsy Johnson Hospital for an autopsy and identification.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Harnett County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office.
