One arrested in Henderson convenience store homicide

An 18-year-old was arrested Wednesday and charged with the killing of a Henderson convenience store worker.

HENDERSON, N.C. — An 18-year-old was arrested Wednesday and charged with killing a Henderson convenience store worker Monday.

Daiquan Jameek Waddell, of 1828 S. Clearview Drive in Henderson, has been charged with killing Ahmed Shahit. Waddell also faces charges for robbery with a dangerous weapon and second degree kidnapping.

Waddell was held at the Vance County jail Wednesday with no bond.

Two men entered the BP station at 615 Raleigh Rd. in Henderson on Monday and demanded cash. Shahit was later found dead from a gunshot wound.

Waddell also faces robbery with a dangerous weapon charges for a robbery at the Raleigh Road Convenience Mart on March 11 and two robberies at the Waffle House at 942 W. Andrews Ave. in Henderson on March 13 and March 18.

Investigators said the second suspect is still at large but did not release any further information.
