Norlina bank robber wore woman's wig as disguise

On Wednesday August 29, 2012 at 4:41 pm the Southern Bank located at 139 Hyco Street Norlina, N.C. was robbed. Suspect was described as an African American male of dark complexion, wearing a woman's wig and sun glasses. He was seen entering and fleeing the scene on foot. He wore a blue and white button up shirt, black pants and had a thinly trimmed goatee. Suspect fled the scene heading south on Hyco Street carrying a yellow plastic bag with and undisclosed amount of money. The Bankers Association has offered up to a $5,000.00 reward for any information that leads up to the arrest and conviction of the suspect. NORLINA, N.C. — Authorities are looking for a man who robbed a bank Wednesday in Norlina.

Norlina police said a man wearing a woman's wig and sunglasses walked into Southern Bank, at 139 Hyco St., at 4:40 p.m. and demanded money.

A spokesman with the North Carolina Bankers Association said the man told tellers he had a bomb.

The man was last seen heading south on Hyco Street, carrying a yellow plastic bag with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police said witnesses described the man as black with a dark complexion, wearing a blue-and-white button-up shirt, black pants and a thinly trimmed goatee.

The association is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect.
