Norlina bank robber wore woman's wig as disguise

Posted August 30, 2012

— Authorities are looking for a man who robbed a bank Wednesday in Norlina.

Norlina police said a man wearing a woman's wig and sunglasses walked into Southern Bank, at 139 Hyco St., at 4:40 p.m. and demanded money.

A spokesman with the North Carolina Bankers Association said the man told tellers he had a bomb.

The man was last seen heading south on Hyco Street, carrying a yellow plastic bag with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police said witnesses described the man as black with a dark complexion, wearing a blue-and-white button-up shirt, black pants and a thinly trimmed goatee.

The association is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to call Norlina police at 252-257-3456.

"black with a dark complexion," according to witnesses. Not much help there. Hope they catch him.
