FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Fayetteville State University dormitory building didn’t sustain any damage after an accidental fire Tuesday afternoon.

The Fayetteville Fire and Emergency Management were called to McLeod Hall on the university’s campus at 1200 Murchison Road at about 3:15 p.m. in reference to a fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke coming from a dorm room on the fourth floor and discovered a small amount of clothing smoldering inside the room.

Investigators determined the fire was caused by clothing that was placed too close to a lamp inside of the dorm room.

No injuries were reported and damage was limited to the smell of smoke inside the room and adjacent areas
