CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — An Orange County grand jury on Monday indicted nine suspects in connection with the kidnapping and slaying of a Chapel Hill man reported missing last month.

Authorities found the body of Joshua McCabe Bailey, 20, on Sept. 12 near Jordan Lake in Chatham County. An autopsy determined that he died of a gunshot wound to the head.

Six men – Brandon Hamilton Greene, 26; Ryan Ladar Davis Lee, 20; Jack Johnson II, 19; Brian Gregory Minton, 18; Jacob Alexander Maxwell, 18, and Matt Johnson – face face first-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping charges

Three other people – Gregory Lee Minton, 41, Mishele Slade Minton, 37, and Chris Manley, 23 – each face a charge of accessory after the fact to first-degree murder.

Investigators say they believe Matt Johnson was the one who shot and killed Bailey on July 29 and that Gregory Minton gave instructions on moving the body and that Mishele Minton helped buy supplies to assist in the move.
