Woman killed in Fayetteville wreck

Mary Elizabeth Lane was driving southeast on Stoney Point Road near Sykes Pond Road in Fayetteville at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday when she lost control of her 1993 Chevrolet Camaro, police said.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Fayetteville woman died Saturday morning in a one-car wreck, police said Monday.

Mary Elizabeth Lane, 19, of Stoney Point Road, was driving southeast on Stoney Point Road near Sykes Pond Road at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday when she lost control of her 1993 Chevrolet Camaro, police said.

The car went off the right side of the road and hit a tree, police said. Lane, who was alone in the car, was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where she died.

The crash wasn't storm-related, police said, adding that officers are still investigating it.
