ANGIER, N.C. — A Lillington man was killed Thursday morning when the car he was riding in slammed into another car south of Angier, the Highway Patrol said.

Nicholas Lamar Grady, 19, of 502 S. Wilmington St. in Raleigh, lost control of his 2000 Acura as he rounded a curve on Old Buies Creek Road shortly after 10:30 a.m., said Trooper B.J. Barbour of the Highway Patrol. The Acura crossed the center line and collided with a 2007 Dodge Charger driven by Brian Joseph White, of Fuquay-Varina, at the intersection of Ennis Road, Barbour said.

Argenis Alfredo Marin Gimenez, 18, a passenger in the Acura, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Acura was traveling at about 70 mph when the wreck happened, Barbour said. The posted speed limit on Old Buies Creek Road is 55 mph.

Charges are pending against Grady in the wreck.

Grady and White were taken to WakeMed in Raleigh for treatment of minor injuries.

An 18-month-old girl in White's car also was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Barbour said the toddler wasn't in a car seat, and White was charged with failure to restrain a child properly.
