GARNER, N.C. — A Fort Bragg solider was killed Saturday in a motorcycle wreck on an Interstate 40 exit in Wake County, according to the state Highway Patrol.

State troopers said Staff Sgt. Edwin Ramos, 25, of 983 Stewarts Creek Drive in Fayetteville, was riding a motorcycle when he took the exit for U.S. Highway 70 in Garner. He lost control of the bike and struck the guardrail. Ramos was taken to WakeMed, where he died.

Troopers said Ramos was not speeding but was likely going faster than he was capable of handling the bike on a curve.

Ramos was a military police non-commissioned officer with the Division Special Troops Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division.

Originally from Montgomery, Illinois, Ramos is survived by his wife and son.
