SANFORD, N.C. — Fatigue was likely the cause of a two-vehicle wreck in Sanford Saturday night that killed an 18-year-old man and hospitalized a family of four, state troopers said.

Troopers said that a Chevrolet Blazer driven by Sebastian Talley crossed the center line of N.C. Highway 87, at Winstead Road, around 9 p.m. and struck an oncoming Ford F250 pickup truck.

Talley, of Cameron, died at the scene.

The pickup driver and two passengers were airlifted to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill – Wayne Fausz, 40; Nathaniel Fausz, 15; and Autumn Fausz, 9.

Wayne and Nathaniel Fausz were listed in critical condition Sunday morning. Troopers said their injuries were serious but non-life-threatening.

Autumn Fausz had multiple broken bones. She was listed in good condition.

A third passenger in the pickup, Natasha Fausz, 34, was taken to Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford. An update on her condition was not available.

Troopers said that Talley's father said that his son had recently been working a lot at the Coty manufacturing plant in Sanford.

Coty, Inc., issued a statement saying:

"Coty is deeply saddened by the tragic news regarding the fatal automobile accident involving Sebastian Talley, a Strataforce consultant at one of our facilities. We would however like to clarify that the safety and well being of our employees and consultants is our number one priority. Sebastian did not work at Coty on the day of the accident and has not worked any double shifts since being assigned to work at the Coty plant in June."
