Chadbourn, N.C. — The pilot of a single-engine plane died when it crashed about a mile south of a small Columbus County town Thursday evening, state troopers said.
Shannon Lee Harrelson, 38, was the only person aboard the plane when it down off N.C. Highway 410 at 7:07 p.m., troopers said. More details about the crash were not available.
Troopers said Harrelson, of Chadbourn, was the father of 5-year-old twin girls.
