Durham, N.C. — Durham police arrested the driver they suspect in a Wednesday hit-and-run Hillsborough Road.
Cornelius Lee Baldwin, 26, of 1404-B Liberty St. in Durham is charged with felony hit and run resulting in personal injury, felony fleeing to elude arrest with a motor vehicle and reckless driving
Police said Baldwin led a Durham officer in a high-speed chase from N.C. Highway 147 onto U.S. Highway 15/501 and then onto Hillsborough Road where he hit a car being driven by Walter B. Paschall, 84, of 5143 Old Hillsborough Road.
After the collision, police said Baldwin fled the scene on foot, heading toward the Hillandale Golf Course.
Paschall suffered a broken pelvis and two punctured lungs when his vehicle was hit on the passenger side. He was taken to Duke Medical Center where he was listed in serious condition Thursday afternoon.
