A man was found shot to death Tuesday evening inside the Union Bank & Trust Co. building on College Street, police said.

Benjamin A. Gentry, 70, of East Front Street in Oxford, was in an upstairs office he leased from the bank, police said. Gentry's wife found his body at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday after not hearing from him for several hours, police said.

State Bureau of Investigation agents were assisting Oxford police with the investigation.

Gentry's body was taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Chapel Hill for an autopsy.

I am a neighbor and this saddens us all. God bless this family during this sad and painful time.

Being from the same area as this is a scary thing!! Why would anyone want to do this to another human being is beyond my comprehension! It is just a sign of the end of this world as we know it, Jesus is coming to get his children and it won't be long. God Bless Mrs. Gentry and the family.

Thoughts and Prayers to the Gentry Family and Friends!!!

These are sad times.

This is really sad...I hope they find out exactly what happened and soon. Prayers for the family of this man.
