A school bus struck a tree in the 1200 block of Walnut Street around 4 p.m. Thursday, Cary police said.

No children were on board the bus when the wreck happened, said Greg Thomas, a Wake County Public School System spokesman.

The bus driver did not appear to have any serious injuries.

No information was available about what school the bus was from or how the wreck occurred.

Right on ccs1920, I have told them to slow down and the driver was basicly rude. The drivers are inconsistant, rude and all around bad drivers. I see them speeding, running stop signs and lights, and driving with students standing up. And yes they make way more than minimum wage!!!

I wonder if it is the same school bus that travels 40-45mph in a 25mph zone on Castalia Drive, in Cary, around 3:00pm every school day?

Z man you seem to know a lot!! Are you a spy for the school system? Where I live the drivers make more than minimum wage, 10-16 per hour. Glad no children were hurt.

Fact: the speed limit in that direction on Walnut street is 35 MPH - there's a sign well before where the wreck occurred. Fact: the bus hit a tree with enough force to crush the front of the bus, knocking out the windshield and flatten the tree. Fact: There were 40 foot skid marks there this morning when I drove bye. Fact: there have been 5 bus wrecks in Wake county in the last 5 weeks. How many facts do I need?

Or maybe Zman...something cut her off. Do you really need to insult bus drivers without any facts?
