Durham police probe hit-and-run of boy on bike

A 13-year-old boy was riding a bicycle on Southgate Street, near North Maple Street, when he was struck at 2:58 p.m. Sunday, police say.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police are investigating a hit and run.

A 13-year-old boy was riding a bicycle on Southgate Street, near North Maple Street, when he was struck at 2:58 p.m. Sunday, police say.

The victim was transported to Duke University Hospital, where is was listed in critical condition.

The vehicle didn't stop and is described as a possible champagne-colored, older model Honda Accord. The car would have front-end damage and a shattered front windshield, police say.

The victim's name was withheld Sunday evening.
