STONEVILLE, N.C. — Authorities issued a Silver Alert for an elderly man from a Rockingham County town Saturday morning.

Police believe that Dallas Gray Dunlap, 76, of Stoneville, is missing and endangered. Dunlap suffers from dementia or another cognitive impairment.

Dunlap was last seen at 104 Brown St. in Stoneville. He was wearing a red, plaid pajama top, dark gray pajama pants and white tennis shoes. It was unknown where Dunlap was traveling to.

Officers described Dunlap as a white man, standing 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 185 pounds. He is bald and has blue eyes. He has a scar on his nose.

A picture of Dunlap was not available.

Anyone with information about Dunlap should call Chief M. James at the Stoneville Police Department at 336-573-9861.

Developed in 2007, the Silver Alert system notifies the public about missing endangered adults who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.

It allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.
