Man Charged Under New Wire Theft Law
A Fayetteville man has been charged under a new state law aimed at curbing the theft of copper wire, authorities said Wednesday.
Posted — UpdatedGlenn Junior Maynor, 41, of 2312 Indian Creek Drive, was arrested Tuesday and charged with injuring wires and other fixtures of telephone/telegraph and electric power companies.
The law making the theft a felony went into effect in December.
Investigators said Maynor cut copper wire from utility poles along Judson Church and Sunnyside School Roads on Tuesday. A concerned citizen reported seeing him carrying a bucket and wire snips and cutting the copper from the base of a power pole, authorities said.
