Raleigh, N.C. — The Wake County School Board voted Tuesday afternoon to hire more teachers to meet state class size requirements.
The state requires schools to have no more than 24 students per teacher in grades Kindergarten through third grade.
Wake County schools had asked for the requirement to be waived for 26 elementary classrooms, but the state would not allow it.
The school board decided to allocated funds to hire teachers in 13 schools not meeting size requirements. This will prevent students from having to be moved to other classrooms.
Principals can also hire temporary teachers if needed.
School leaders said meeting the size requirement has been especially challenging since the district is growing by about 6,000 students a year.

Instead of actually teaching a decent and effective cirriculum, that just want to reduce class sizes and tax the citizens of Wake County.
When I was in school we had sometimes 30 kids or more. We did not have a problem learning what was presented to us. So why now do teachers have such a hard time doing there jobs? Could be that they are lazy or maybe the administration has tied their hands so that they can't teach effectively?
