Asheville — A Cary man was arrested in Asheville Friday in an Internet sex sting.
The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office said Kim Sunsik Kelly, 36, of 306 Rutherglen Drive, thought he was communicating with a child online. In reality, he was chatting with undercover officers.
A statement from the sheriff's office said the suspect initiated the conversation in which sexual acts were mentioned to the "child," The statement said the suspect went to a meeting place for the purposes of carrying out those acts, and he was arrested at that site on Friday.
A spokesman for the sheriff's office said 30 people have been charged as part of similar investigations since 2006.
He was held on $60,000 bond.
