RALEIGH, N.C. — All 26 Fantastic Sam's hair salons throughout the Triangle are raising money to fight breast cancer on Saturday.

On Oct. 20, $1 from every haircut will be donated to the Triangle chapter of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation, a grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists.

"By supporting local communities and causes that have a direct effect on each guests' well-being, the Fantastic Sam's through Carolina are committed to continuing efforts to help breast-cancer patients today, as well as to invest in the health of future generations," Edie Benchabbat, a salon owner, said in a release.

The Towne North Fantastic Sam's in North Raleigh is selling raffle tickets for a year's worth of free hair cuts and other prizes. Children can get their hair painted various colors for $2. All proceeds will go to the Komen foundation.

A mobile exam unit will also be on-site offering education and support services. Activities at the salon, in the Kroger Shopping Center at Creedmoor and Strickland roads, will be run 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
