RALEIGH, N.C. — Road-building projects in North Carolina will be on hold over the Labor Day weekend to make driving safer and keep traffic flowing.

The state Department of Transportation said major projects on most interstates and U.S. highways will stop Friday afternoon and resume Tuesday morning.

The I-40 repaving project in Durham County will stop from Friday morning until Tuesday.
