Police: Same man robbed Raleigh, Cary banks

Raleigh, N.C. — Raleigh police said Wednesday that a man who they believe robbed a SunTrust bank on Creedmoor Road in September is also responsible for a bank robbery last week in Cary.

Surveillance images from the robberies show a tall, white man with a slender build and a gray beard or stubble approaching the teller and demanding money. He was wearing a baseball cap and dark sunglasses on both occasions.

Cary police said he is 6 feet 3 inches tall, weighs around 200 pounds and has large buck teeth. He wore socks to cover his hands.

It wasn't clear in the images whether the man was armed.

Police say the man robbed a SunTrust Bank branch inside a Kroger grocery store at 1273 NW Maynard Road in Cary on Nov. 25 and at 6300 Creedmoor Road in Raleigh on Sept. 23.

Cary has never claimed to be violence free....the bashers and haters just like to throw that out everytime something happens there. I've lived in Cary for 18 years and the worst I've encountered is having cars rifled through and change taken from an ashtray in an unlocked vehicle. Bank robberies happen somewhere every day -- and I think I'm safe in saying the perpetrators go OUTSIDE of their own residential area to do their crimes to lessen the chance of being recognized. Cary is a great place to live.....live elsewhere if you so desire.

Yeah, Cary is REAL violent. Ha! Lived here 8, going on 9 years. Never had any crime in my neighborhood other than the occasional teenager going into an open garage and stealing beer out of a fridge.

Bank robberies happen everywhere. Of course they're going to happen in Cary. Cary has money, so I'm sure a criminal would assume the banks would have a lot of money on hand.
