Seagrove teen killed in Chatham collision

print friendly

A teen from Seagrove died Tuesday when she lost control of her car and collided with a tractor-trailer near Siler City, authorities said.

Katlyn Victoria Medford, 18, was northbound on Old U.S. Highway 421 shortly before noon when she lost control of her Chevrolet Cavalier, authorities said. The car spun and slammed sideways into a southbound tractor-trailer.

The truck driver, Thomas Brantly Fox, wasn't injured.

Authorities said charges won't be filed in the case since Fox wasn't at fault.

Old U.S. 421 was closed for about five hours while Highway Patrol troopers investigated the case and cleared away the wreckage.

So very sorry for your loss!

That old road is narrow and filled with hills and curves. How sad that it has claimed another young life. RIP young lady.

I will be praying for this young lady's family.. They are going to need it to help pull them together and keep them strong.

Praying for the family and friends that knew and loved her...

LocalYokel - "Should deceased people be ticketed for legal reasons or is it not necessary for property damage cases like this?"

I believe that you are confusing punishment with civil liability. The decedents insurance will cover any damage if it is determined that she was negligent.
