— The Wake County Sheriff's Office arrested three Durham family members – a son, stepfather and uncle – in connection with a fatal shooting outside a vacant house in northern Wake County on Sunday morning.

Pedro Tur Fernandez, 18, of 109 Kilt Way Way Drive, is charged with murder and conspiracy to commit assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury in the shooting death of Santiago Hernandez-Arredondo, 44, of Durham.

Fernandez's stepfather, Tirso Mondragon-Cuevas, 43, of the same address, and uncle, Rene Mendoza Lopez, 30, of 1520 James St., are also charged with conspiracy to commit assault, plus accessory after the fact to murder.

Authorities say Fernandez shot Hernandez-Arredondo near 4501 Durham Road and N.C. Highway 98 around 8:30 a.m. Sunday. Hernandez-Arredondo was rushed to WakeMed where he was pronounced dead.

Fernandez was being held in the Wake County jail without bond. His stepfather and uncle were being held on $1.5 million secured bonds. No other information was released.

I live very near this area and drove by several minutes after the police arrived. Generally speaking, this a very safe place, with a small town approach. Most people know each other. So very sad for the family of the victim. I hope justice comes swiftly for the accused.

"Put the IRS in charge of the judicial system.....you can bet it would work then."

Are you referring to the "Guilty till proven innocent" I.R.S.? The "Watch us ruin your life on a rumor without an ounce of guilt or responsibility" I.R.S.? Really? Absurd.

Boney said - "Like it or not but, when "you" (and you know who you are)started taking God, morality, a sense of consciousness, pride, self determination and many others out of the schools, you started this whole domino effect of deteriation".
So there was ONE PERSON who took God, morality, yada yada yada out of schools?! That was quite a job for one individual.
Oh, and spell check is great. Try it sometime.

right on bowslinger70 right on....everyone is to busy with their OWN agenda (banning guns) instead of using good ol fashioned common sense.

I read about an accident, where a Truck killed a whole bunch of people, Just recently. We should BAN Trucks before Guns . Trucks kill more people. How did God in schools get into this article ?? Some of you folks need to get a job ( Oh, Sorry that's in another article.)

I can't seem to get a comment posted. It must be because some of my brain cells are still alive. The justice system works about as well as the other systems in this country work....so why worry! Put the IRS in charge of the judicial system.....you can bet it would work then.
