— Durham police are looking for information that will lead them to an arrest in a shooting this weekend in which a 52-year-old Charlotte woman was injured.

The shooting happened at about 10:35 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the One Hop convenience store at 2021 Guess Road.

The victim was sitting in the back seat of a car parked in the parking lot when she was shot in the neck, police said.

She was taken to Duke University Hospital for treatment of what did not appear to be life-threatening injuries, as of Monday morning, police said.

Another woman was in the car, but she was not injured, police said.

Officers do not have a description of the gunman or a suspect vehicle, at this time, police said.

The victim’s husband said he was getting out of their car when he heard several gunshots. He told investigators that looked and found that both back passenger windows had been shattered and his wife hurt.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Durham Police Department at 919-560-4910, extension 29283, or Durham Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200.

Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases and callers never have to identify themselves.

I have been trying to figure out the 10 whole years I have been in Durham, how the heck the law enforcement cant lock down these types of random wild wild west type of incidents where these blanks think its ok to openly shoot their bodied weapons in public like they own the streets..... It just does not make a bit of sense to have so much outright disregard for other humans lives in this little slow city! Too much and far too many incidents like this. When is this going to stop?

Thank goodness that we have Durham, otherwise Raleigh, Cary, Wake Forest, and Garner would be over run with criminals from there. I counted like 4 stories about major crimes in Durham alone, 1 in Raleigh.......... The numbers support my argument each and every year, less population in Durham, more violent crimes committed there over Raleigh.

I remember a time when North Durham was pretty safe. Didn't take long for that to change.

    What is Durham becoming?

I agree with you clark063. I live near horton rd and I know I heard at least 40 or more gun shots. I've never heard anything like that except on an action movie. I guess because no one was hurt they didn't feel the need to report it.(there have been 2 other shootings in the horton rd area that haven't been in the news either - wonder why) I've heard people talking & they said it's related but I don't know. I personally think it's all gang related.

I am willing to bet that this is connected to the shootout that happened on Horton and Newby Drive about 5:00 Saturday. The news played it down, but I was there and it was way too scary! One guy standing in the middle of Newby Drive and shooting at a car on the other side of Horton Road, then that guy starts shooting back! If I hadn't stopped before turning onto Newby, I would have been in the middle of the gunfire! 2 minutes later, a car goes flying down Newby with a guy hanging out of the window shooting at the car in front of him and caused a wreck at the end of the road. The wreck is all that the news talked about!
