FEMA offers free rebuilding info in Raleigh, Fayetteville, Jacksonville

Safe-rebuilding specialists from the Federal Emergency Management Agency will be in Fayetteville, Jacksonville and Raleigh for several days to provide free rebuilding information and answer questions about how to strengthen property.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Safe-rebuilding specialists from the Federal Emergency Management Agency will be in Fayetteville, Jacksonville and Raleigh for several days to provide free rebuilding information and answer questions about how to strengthen property.

"Home and business owners could save a lot of time and money if they strengthen their property during a major overhaul," said Mike Bolch, federal coordinating officer for FEMA in North Carolina. "We have several proven measures for property owners to consider."

Mitigation techniques include reducing mold and mildew, protecting electrical systems, furnaces and other appliances, reinforcing structures against high winds and floods and securing important personal property. Information on flood insurance is also available.

Advisers are available from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 12, through Monday, May 16. On Tuesday, May 17, they will be available from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Free reference booklets are available both in English and Spanish. No registration is required, and there is no limit on the number of times someone can visit a specialist or on the number of publications they can have.
