Car passenger killed in wreck involving school bus
A teenaged passenger in a car involved in a collision with a Wake County school bus died Monday evening as a result of injuries sustained in the wreck, police spokesman Jim Sughrue said.
Posted — UpdatedThe bus and car collided at about 4 p.m. at Falls of Neuse and Harps Mill roads in north Raleigh.
No students were on the school bus at the time of the crash and the bus driver was not injured, Wake schools spokesman Michael Evans said.
A 14-year-old male in the car died. A 16-year-old male and a 15-year-old male were also in the car. They were transported to WakeMed for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, Sughrue said.
Police have not released more details, including the identities of those in the car.
Alex Lando’s said his parent’s car was also hit by the school bus.
“They saw the bus very quickly coming towards their car and the bus hit their hood,” Lando said.
Lando said his parent’s car was damaged, but the couple wasn't injured.
The wreck caused traffic delays in the area. All roads were reopened by 10 p.m.
The cause of the wreck remains under investigation.
