WILSON, N.C. — State authorities on Wednesday identified the couple involved in a domestic shooting and wreck in Wilson on Monday.

Sugeyris Cepeda White was found shot to death inside a BMW following a three-vehicle wreck at the intersection of Forest Hills Road and Ward Boulevard.

Eljuan White also was shot in the incident and was airlifted to Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville, where he later died.

Noelle Talley, a spokeswoman for the state Attorney General's Office, said the Whites were married and living in Charlotte. It was unclear what they were doing in Wilson.

Residents said they saw Eljuan White point a gun at his wife and drag her by her hair into his BMW in the 600 block of Whitehead Avenue on Monday morning. He fired several shots during the incident.

Responding officers caught up with the BMW across town, shortly before the three-vehicle wreck. Police said more shots were fired at that time.

Officers A.J. Thomas and T. Sherrod have been placed on administrative duty, pending the outcome of a State Bureau of Investigation probe into the incident. The move is routine in officer-involved shootings.
