RALEIGH, N.C. — A 29-year-old man was killed in a shooting at his parents' home in southern Wake County early Sunday, according to the sheriff's office.

Spokeswoman Phyllis Stephens said that deputies responding to a 911 call found Benjamin Lloyd Hamilton dead at 5625 Windlake Court, off Penny Road, around 9 a.m.

Stephens said the shooting "was not a random act" and was being treated as a homicide, but did not elaborate further.

Property records show that the house belongs to Hamilton's parents, Linwood Louis Hamilton Sr. and Rhonda Hamilton.

Stephens said that Hamilton's parents were present during the shooting and are cooperating with investigators. She said that Hamilton lived on and off at his parents' house.

The investigation was ongoing.
