$12 million Mega Millions Jackpot ticket sold in Greensboro
North Carolina has won the jackpot for the first time in the Mega Millions game, lottery officials announced Saturday. The only winning jackpot ticket sold in Friday’s Mega Millions drawing was sold in Greensboro.

The winner has 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim the prize at lottery headquarters in Raleigh.
The ticket that matched all five white balls and the Mega Ball is worth $12 million as an annuity or $7.7 million cash (minus federal and state withholdings) if the winner elects to take the lump sum.
The winning numbers were: 3 – 11 – 20 – 29 – 39 Mega Ball 26
“It’s been a big week for North Carolina with Mega Millions” Tom Shaheen, executive director of the North Carolina Education Lottery, said in a statement. “This past Tuesday, North Carolina also had a $1 million winner and a $250,000 winner.”
The N.C. Education Lottery added the Mega Millions game in February, and its addition has contributed to record lottery sales in the state, according to lottery officials.
As of Friday, the lottery has surpassed $1.3 billion in sales for this fiscal year and still has slightly over a month left to go.
The new game joined Powerball to provide players with the chance to enter four jackpot drawings each week. Mega Millions drawings are held on Tuesdays and Fridays, and Powerball drawings are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
