FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Police are investigating the Tuesday morning shooting death of a man in a west Fayetteville home.

Officers responding to a shooting call just after 5:30 a.m. found Brian Goldburg, 21, shot to death inside 1113 Quail Meadow Drive, off Cliffdale Road.

Police said they found the accused shooter at the scene along with a high-powered rifle, which investigators said was the murder weapon.

Authorities arrested Jaime Aaron Guzman, 21, and charged him with first-degree murder. Guzman, a member of the 82nd Sustainment Brigade at Fort Bragg, lived at the home. He was being held Tuesday afternoon in the Cumberland County Detention Center.

Fayetteville Police Department spokesman Dan Grubb said Goldburg was a member of Fort Bragg's 82nd Airborne Division.

Police said a woman was inside the home at the time of the shooting but was not hurt.

"I don't know all of the details of what eventually happened. It appears everyone knew each other here," Grubb said.

Neighbor Griffin Daniel told WRAL News that a young military couple moved into the home about two months ago. He never noticed any problems and said the couple was "quiet."
