RALEIGH, N.C. — The driver in a single-vehicle wreck on Lumley Road that killed a man early Sunday was charged with felony hit-and-run, Raleigh police said.

A vehicle struck a utility pole along Lumley Road, near Mount Herman Road, around 2 a.m., police said.

Passenger Daniel Allan Blan, 24, was killed.

The driver, Jason Raymond Butler, 24, fled the scene before officers arrived, police spokesman Jim Sughrue said.

An investigation of the crash led to the identification of the driver, and a warrant was issued for Butler's arrest. He surrendered to authorities Saturday afternoon and was placed in the Wake County Jail, Sughrue said.

Butler was released overnight after posting a $10,000 secured bond. His first court appearance was set for Monday afternoon.
