A man and woman from Clinton died in an apparent murder-suicide Thursday night, Newton Grove Police Chief Frankie Harrell said.

<b>NEWTON GROVE, N.C.</b> — A man and woman from Clinton died in an apparent murder-suicide Thursday night, Newton Grove Police Chief Frankie Harrell said.

Daniel Bradley Drayton, 22, and Tammy Pickett, 20, were found dead inside a car parked in a lot outside a business at 206 Fayetteville St.

Harrell said it appeared that they pulled off the side of the road at a random point, then Drayton shot Pickett and himself.

Authorities have not commented on the relationship between the two.

According to the school, administrators received a report of a person with a firearm on the football field. The tip was just a report, and it remains unclear if a gun was on campus, according to the school.
