RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police were investigating two separate shootings that happened around the same time Thursday night, one of which was fatal.

Police escorted people from Hispanic supermarket Tienda Hispana, at 3913 Western Boulevard, after someone shot and killed an armed man who was trying to rob the store, police said.

Police did not release the robbery suspect's name. Police also did not reveal who they thought shot the man.

Officers drew their weapons and went inside to secure the supermarket. That's when they found the man's body.

The supermarket is between Amedeo’s restaurant and Kim’s Dry Cleaners.

At 8:30 p.m., about the same time as the supermarket shooting, police reported an unrelated shooting near the intersection of Star and Cross streets.

Two people, a 49-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl, were shot. Emergency crews took them to WakeMed, where they were treated for what was thought to be non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Both incidents are under investigation, and additional details will be provided as information is gathered and confirmed, Raleigh police spokesman Jim Sughrue said.
