Parents of students at Enloe High School were expecting an electronic letter Thursday evening, detailing a morning fight at the school.

According to the letter, "About 15 students were involved in an altercation outside the school building entryway." Raleigh Police spokesman Jim Sughrue said officers estimated that 30 students either were involved in the fight or were encouraging the fighters.

The school resource officer assigned to Enloe, school security personnel and additional Raleigh police controlled the fray. The school was never locked down.

Two students were treated for cuts.

Raleigh police arrested six of those involved and charged each with assault. Two were also charged with possession of marijuana.

Sughrue said he expected an as-yet-undetermined number of juveniles to be charged for their roles in the fight.

The investigation was continuing.

well-said health freak!

Good for all of you for homeschooling your children and sending them to private schools. Now they will become close-minded, judgemental, socially awkward, racist and bigoted people just like you. You won't be able to "protect" them forever. Being a part of the real world means having to look at real issues-- not just blaming a group of people for certain actions. Why don't you take a look at how our society rewards violence, how we encourage "tough guys" partically in the black media. Why don't you try to sympathize with people who are victims of our repressive systems.

I am by no means condoning violence but it is merely a symptom of a problem. As a student who graduated from Enloe 2 years ago I know that it is an incredible school that provides a more quality education than most private schools. Part of what makes it wonderful is diversity.

Don't use this unnecessary fear as a cop out for only exposing your children to people just like themselves.

Hearing about fight does not sooth the wounds because it was not a gun fight. We all need to take a stance as citizens, parents and take control of our children. We are all in a world of choas now and will continue to be unless someone(ie parents...single or otherwise take back control of their children). This should not be happening in our school systems but to hear the board of education they will blame it on the budget and not their un eagerness to put their foot down and vote on uniforms and no cell phone activity in school system

This thread is too easy. Stereotypes are based in truth.

This would be a great reason to bring back "corporal punishment"

The only problem is the teachers are half the size of the general student popolation today. They (teachers) would be intimidated to paddle kids that are double their size!
