Raleigh, N.C. — Boaters and campers weren’t deterred by thunderstorms this holiday weekend.
Derrieck Poll, of Fayetteville, and his family went camping at B. Everett Jordan Lake.
“We’ve got plenty of tarps here so we’re pretty well covered,” Poll said.
Poll said the family hoped for sunshine and cool weather, but ended up getting heat, rain and ticks.
Brian Porter, of Raleigh, couldn’t wait to try out his new boat on the lake. Porter said he was willing to risk getting caught on the water in the rain.
Some boaters had to wait for a break between rain storms to hit the water.
Boater Bill Scarth said he basically anchored his boat and socialized on the beach.
