Lumberton, N.C. — A CSX worker was killed Monday when he was buried under 150 tons of coal at a Robeson County power plant, officials said.
The unidentified worker died at the Weatherspoon Plant, a coal-fired power plant near Lumberton that is owned by Progress Energy, officials said. A CSX train loaded with coal came into the plant when the worker became trapped under the coal, officials said.
The accident was under investigation Monday, but the plant remained in operation, officials said.
