— Several couples over the Triangle celebrated special Christmas gifts – the birth of their children.

Rex Hospital claimed the most babies born on Dec. 25, 2007, with 16 bundles of joy delivered, but WakeMed secured the honor of bringing the first Christmas baby into the Triangle – at two minutes past midnight.

Duke University Hospital staffers saw seven births on Christmas Day while Cape Fear Valley Medical Center reported six births. Durham Regional Hospital saw six births.

WakeMed delivered a total of nine babies.

enolive: my sentments exactly. For the few working parents who had a baby congrats on your new tax deduction. To the rest of the single deadbeat mothers with the equally deadbeat spermdoners welcome to medicaid. NC loves to pass it out.

What an awsome joy to have the same birthday as our Lord and Savior. I pray that these parents will lead and direct all these little ones down the right path.

jhenry - Not that I would expect anything else from a UNC fan, but you need to use the "Class" brush on this one, not your "Race" brush. That race brush is worn out anyway. Get a brain.

LOL enolive. I have a Christmas child plus 4 other family members with b'days within days of Christmas and we always celebrate birthdays in the room without the tree, using birthday paper only! What an awesome gift to share a Christmas birthday with Jesus!

    "How many were named Jesus?"

Why can't you be happy for these families, or do you need to spread your racist thoughts to everyone?

Wonder how many got medicaid cards for their first Christmas?

I've heard that kids born really close to Christmas hate it when it comes to birthday and Christmas gifts. A lot of people give them one birthday/Christmas gift, so they end up getting screwed on the gift situation. I'm glad I was not born in December. That enabled me to make out like a bandit on birthday and Christmas gifts! :)

To the parents of these new bundles of joy from a December baby,

Please remember to have a separate celebration for their birthdays, even if you have to do it on the 26th or 24th or some othe day. There is nothing more disappointing to a child than to be given a present and told "this is for Christmas and your birthday" I stopped giving birthday presents because I didn't receive any. Also, make sure to wrap their birthday presents in birthday wrapping not Christmas.
