Suspect Wanted for Multiple Assaults, Break-ins in Goldsboro
GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Wayne County Sheriff C. A. Winders arrested a man he said was responsible for a series of residential break-ins in Goldsboro.

Christin "Greg" Ray Godette, 16, was taken into custody around 1 p.m. Sunday at a home on Forest Knolls Road. Sgt. Joe Smith and his police dog Maggie tracked Godette to the house.

There were five reports of burglary or attempted burglaries between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. Sunday near Highway 111 and Forest Knolls Road.

Godette was charged with three counts of first degree burglary and two counts of assault inflicting serious injury.

The woman who reported the robbery on Colonial Court told deputies she was assaulted. The victim was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital.

En route to that call, deputies received reports of another break-in on Colonial Court.

While deputies were processing those crime scenes, three more break-ins were reported on Ruby Road, Ann Street and Spring Bank Road

A victim at one of those break-ins was also assaulted, deputies said.

“I appreciate all the assistance from the K9, officers, who were very useful in locating the suspect, the Highway Patrol, the detectives, patrol officers, warrant officers and officers of my command staff. It was a long night, but when the citizens are being terrorized like this it is necessary and I am just happy it was able to reach a satisfactory conclusion," Winders said.

Godette was transported Sunday afternoon to the Wayne County Detention Center.
