Fort Bragg Soldier Found Shot to Death

LILLINGTON — A Harnett County Sheriff's Deputy found thebody of a Fort Bragg soldier lying on the side of a road. Officials say itappears the man died from two gunshot wounds in the chest.

According to a post public affairs office, Sergeant James A.Merritt, 34, of Tupelo, Miss., was found on the side of Lemuel Black Roadsouth of Lillington.

Merritt was a mechanic with the 503rd Maintenance Company, known asCOSCOM.
