NC State Researcher Burkholder Receives Award

RALEIGH — The North Carolina State researcher credited with finding a fish killing toxin is now drawing national recognition. JoAnn Burkholder is the newest recipient of the Scientific Freedom and Responsibility Award.
The honor is given to a scientist who has acted to protect the public's health, safety and welfare. In naming the winner, the group praised Burkholder for her dedication to drawing attention to the possible dangers of pfiesteria.
