2 Women Die in Dunn Wreck

DUNN — Two Raleigh women on their way to church werekilled when their car was hit by a driver who ignored a stop sign on arural road. Reports indicated the other driver had a blood alcohol levelof 0.18, substantially over the state's legal limit of 0.08.

The women were identified as Emma Stewart Johnson, 54, of 1313Armstrong Circle and her daughter-in-law, Brenda Watkins Johnson, 46, of2820 Old Mill Stream Court.

Troopers said a 1971 Ford Toronado driven by Jose Raudel Herrera, 32, hittheir car shortly before noon on Old Fairground Road, about five milesnorth of Dunn.

Neither Herrera nor a passenger in his car, Efrain Robles Prieto, wasinjured.

Herrera was taken to Harnett County Jail, where he is being held inlieu of $10,600 bail.

Herrera, who lives on US 301 near Dunn, was charged with driving whileimpaired, driving with a revoked license, failure to stop at a stop sign,and two counts of felony death by vehicle.
