Sheriff's deputies say 75-year-old Richard Bobbitt made a horrifyingdiscovery when he came home from work. His wife, Stella, was dead in thefront seat of her car. Her daughter, Mary Williams, was lying on theground next to the automobile.
Major Ray Davis says as of Tuesday night, there's no confirmation ofexactly what happened, thought it appears both victims died immediatelyafter being shot.
The murders have stunned people in the rural area along A.B. Carter Road,just east of Fayetteville.
Neighbor Albert Fisher says he was surprised altogether by the killings.He thought he would never see something so shocking.
Investigators believe the mother and daughter had just returned from amedical appointment when the shootings happened. The daughter's car, a1995 green Hyundai, is missing. It appears the car was taken after themurders.
So far, officers have no suspects.
