RALEIGH — The goose hunt is cancelled on a North Raleighgolf course.
A few weeks ago, WRAL-TV5 reported that Wildwood Green golf club washaving a problem with an overpopulation of geese. Club owners had plannedto let marksmen hunt the geese across the fairways and greens.
After the story aired, the club was swamped with phone calls. Ownershave since decided to cancel the hunt, and with the help of animal groupsthey're dealing with the problem.
Animal experts are destroying goose eggs with chemicals to keepnumbers down and club owners are using a border collie to keep the birdsaway.
So far, they say, it's working.
