Investigators Search for Missing Cary Boy

An Amber Alert has been issued for a missing 18-month-old Cary boy last seen Monday afternoon with his mother in Cabarrus County.

RALEIGH, N.C. — The Highway Patrol has issued an Amber Alert for a missing 18-month-old Cary boy last seen Monday afternoon with his mother in Cabarrus County.

Enrique "Ricky" James Lazo Jr., and his father, Enrique James Lazo, live in Cary, but Lazo said he had taken the boy to be with his ex-wife, Rene Rachelle Lazo, Sunday evening for a weeklong supervised visit.

"As a father, I don't know what's going on with my son," Lazo said. "I just want to get him back home where he belongs.

The two were last seen at about 3:30 p.m. Monday. Authorities said the two could be traveling in a four-door 1997 maroon-colored Geo Prizm with North Carolina license plate WNC-3856. It is not known where the two may be going.

Ricky is described as a white male weighing about 25 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. His father said he is 2 feet 10 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a one-piece yellow suit with brown sandals with a leather strap. He has a birthmark on the right cheek.

His father said he will be 19 months old on Thursday.

Rene Lazo, 28, stands 5 feet tall and weighs 120 pounds. She has blond hair, blue eyes and was last seen wearing a pink T-shirt, blue jeans and brown rainbow flip-flops.
