RALEIGH — The state Division of Motor Vehicles is makingplans to implement a new federal law aimed at stopping violent stalkers.

Starting September 13th, there will no longer be access to publicrecords such as a driver's name and driving records. For years, anyonecould go down to the DMV office with a license platenumber and get all of that information for a small fee.

That service will stop this month.. under the Driver's PrivacyProtectionAct.
