Teenager Shot, Loses Sight as Investigation Begins

WILSON — Shots went off Thursday afternoon in a Wilson neighborhood. Now a teenager is in the hospital. Police are questioning another teen aboutthe shooting. They say the victim and the suspect are not related.

There are still a lot of unanswered questions, and officers aren't surewhy the shooting happened. They spent Thursday talking to witnesses, andputting together the pieces.

Angela Hines says she looked out her window to see police, an ambulance,and a white truck with someone on the back of it. It's the last thingHines wanted to see outside her Wilson home-- police tape surrounding aneighbor's home.

Two minors, one male, the other female, were in a home on Saul Street.For some reason, shots were fired. The female, believed to be about14-years-old was shot just above the eye.

"I've been over here just two years," Hines says. "This is a quietneighborhood. There's never been trouble. What happened just shockedme. I don't know if I can sleep tonight."

Thursday night, the female victim of the shooting was in the hospitalrecovering from a gunshot wound that pierced both of her eyes. She haslost her vision. Doctors aren't sure if the girl will have brain damage.

The mother and son of the residence lived in the house. The girl involvedin the shooting was taken in by the family.
