The prosecution claimed Vincent Hall took part in the robberies. Therobberies have nothing to do with the murder, but the prosecution wanted to set up a pattern of criminal behavior. It wanted to show Hall iscapable of murder.
The prosecution called in several witnesses, including Sandra Jacobs, whosaid she was robbed at gunpoint as she opened a Burger King inFuquay-Varina on Feb. 22, 1994. She identified Hall as the man who held agun to her head.
Prosecutors tried to prove that if Hall could commit those crimes, then hecould have shot and killed 19-year-old Kier Lohbeck during a robberyattempt at Blockbuster Video on Jan. 25, 1994.
To further prove its case, the prosecution called inmate William Johnsonto the stand. He claimed Hall told him about the murder while they wereserving time together at Columbus Correctional Center.
Johnson also testified Hall told him he repainted his car and got rid ofthe murder weapon. Johnson talked to Hall at the request of a correctionalofficer and a Raleigh police detective who was trying to solve the case.
The prosecution is expected to wrap up its case Thursday.
